It was opened as second canopy walkway in Germany on 26 August 2005. The extension by a second loop was opened on 14 May 2009.
In total, the path is 540 metres long and consists of two loops. The first section is dedicated to the fauna in the National Park. The second 240 m long loop is dedicated to the jungle itself. The path runs from 10 m to 24 m, having a constant slight climb. The tree tower with viewing platform in the centre of the walkway is 44 m high.
A lift also enables senior citizens and people with reduced mobility to visit the walkway, which is completely barrier-free and also suitable for prams. The observation tower can only be reached by stairs.
From Eisenach and Bad Langensalza, public transport will take you to the canopy walkway. There is a bus stop directly at the Thiemsburg hiking car park..
Dogs are not allowed on the walkway (except assistance dogs). However, they can be accommodated in spacious, lockable dog boxes at the foot of the walkway during your visit. A bowl of water is also waiting for them.
