The canopy walkway in the Hainich National Park is located very centrally in the middle of Germany. Here you will find information on how to get there.

  • 11 camper parking spaces (It is not possible to spend the night in our parking lot.)

Parking fees

  • The first 30 minutes are free.
  • Car/motorbike: 4,00 €
  • Bus/camper: 2,50 m): 6,00 €
  • Caution! Your license plate will be scanned when entering and exiting.
  • Payment is possible at the pay machine, Parkster-App or in the National Park Center
  • On busy days there may be waiting times.

Distances

  • Footpath Parking - National Park Centre (Tickets & Adventure Worlds): 350 m
  • The toilets are located about 50 m from the National Park Centre.
  • Footpath National Park Centre – canopy walkway: 450 m
  • The elevator is about 100 m from the base of the observation tower.

How to find us

By bus & train

By train, take the ICE to Eisenach, Gotha or Göttingen. From Eisenach, you can then reach the canopy walkway with the Hainich Bus (line 150). From Gotha and Göttingen, you can take regional trains to Bad Langensalza. From there, you will also have a good bus connection to the canopy walkway.

By car

From Bad Langensalza in the direction of Zimmern or from Eisenach in the direction of Bad Langensalza (B84) via Craula to the Thiemsburg hiking car park. From there, you can reach the canopy walkway within 10 minutes on foot.

The National Park Bus

The National Park Bus connects Mühlhausen with the Hainich National Park. It runs from Mühlhausen railway station via Niederdorla, Langula, Kammerforst, Mülverstedt and Weberstedt to the Thiemsburg Castle/canopy walkway.

The National Park Bus is used as a bus-on-demand. This means that in order to use this service, the bus must be ordered no later than 2 hours before the desired departure time under 03601 - 40 86 52 37.

Groups of more than 8 people should book weekend trips by Friday 12.00 noon at the latest.
